Silhouettes

by Ashley on September 22, 2011

Did any of you get your silhouette cut by the artist on Disneyland’s Main Street when you were a child? What a treasure! Is the shop still there? Until we can go and see, on my wish list for Hudson:  a custom-made silhouette by Love & Victory.

Crewcuts Vacation Shop

by Ashley on September 13, 2011

I spotted these starry luggage pieces–a rolling overnight case and a boxy train case–on Fifth Avenue in the JCrew kids’ department.  I want them for myself! (And maybe this and this, too.)

Whose Birthday?

by Ashley on September 8, 2011

I was on the phone with my mother-in-law last Friday and she asked me if I had any plans for my birthday. (Which happens to be today!) I had completely forgotten that it was coming up. (Which I promise you is not typical.) Someone else’s recent birthday has had me a bit distracted. I feel […]

Giveaway! Boumy shoes [closed]

by Ashley on August 3, 2011

Teeny-tiny baby footwear might just be one of the cutest things. Ever. (Well, right after teeny-tiny baby toes.) Pairing up little socks when we did our first load of laundry elicited a good deal of oohs and ahhs. And when he needs shoes, I would love to see him sporting a pair of these! Aren’t […]

Retro revival

by Ashley on July 27, 2011

One of my favorite toys when I was growing up was my Fisher-Price turn-table. I vividly recall playing “America” from West Side Story and singing along for my grandmother while playing with the speeds. (I was such a ham!) Hazier memories tend to include, at a younger age, Disney’s Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty–the story and […]

You suck through a tube against his nose and the suction draws out […]

Cheap thrills

by Ashley on July 13, 2011

Some favorite, inexpensive discoveries of late (these would make great gifts for little and big kids alike): 3-D Magical Drawing Pad, Dragon Hands (or Animal Hands or a host of other temporary tattoo options for talking hands), and the adorable Thumbprint Notecard Set. We tested the 3D drawing pad and it really works!

reCrib

by Ashley on July 12, 2011

Michelle Lehmann and her husband Daniel recently launched a new retail site called reCrib where you can find gently used, brand-name baby gear. The items for sale tend toward high-end and so the prices  still tend toward steep. But if you had your hopes set on this $730 Oeuf Crib, you might be pretty excited […]

What a sweet idea! A bedtime scroll modeled after vintage bus rolls by MySweetPrints. You can even send a note to the designer if your routine varies!

Chewbeads

by Ashley on July 6, 2011

I’ve really gained a new appreciation for necklaces while being pregnant: I love the way they can dress up a basic maternity tee, and the elongating effect of the right necklace can feel flattering. I think I might have developed a new shopping interest. So while the concept of a teething necklace at first makes […]
