Closet Space: Hudson’s crib

by Ashley on September 28, 2011

Hudson is now occasionally sleeping in his crib, so I thought it might be a good time to share some photos of Aron’s closet-space-turned-nursery. There are really two doors inside our apartment: one to the bathroom, and one beside the bed leading to the walk-through closet that leads to the bathroom (you can see it […]

City kid

by Ashley on September 26, 2011

Watching Hudson’s eyes widen at the sight of grafitti had Aron and I talking about some of the funny realities we’ve encountered so far, having a baby in Manhattan. Believe it or not, and cost aside, New York seems like an amazing place for children. There are new playgrounds popping up all over the city […]

Returning to the Highline

by Ashley on September 6, 2011

Thank you for all the well-wishes for my check-up last week. When the time came, I felt good heading to the office and everything was peachy-keen on my end; Hudson, on the other hand, wasn’t so intent on making the trip to the doctor easy. It was my fault for trying to accomplish too much, […]

Baby wear

by Ashley on August 19, 2011

I’ve been spending a lot of time wearing Hudson in his Sakura Bloom ring sling. He loves it! Provided he’s not hungry or sporting a heavy diaper, he will grow calm or fall asleep almost the instant I put him in it. I often still push his stroller along with me–having not quite mastered the […]

Saturday in Central Park

by Ashley on August 8, 2011

A few photos from our Saturday afternoon… After brunch in Nolita, we decided to cab it up to the top of Central Park and walk home from there. We had a poop-splosion (and three very dirty diapers in the span of an hour) and a consequent meltdown around Sheep’s Meadow, so we spent some time […]

Breaking new ground

by Ashley on August 4, 2011

Last weekend (two weeks) really felt like a turning point: since then, Hudson and I have been spending lots of time outside the house. We’ve been shopping, going to breakfast, eating in the park (mostly him)… and we even went to a movie last Sunday! But yesterday we walked all the way over to Tribeca […]

Le Pain Quotidien

by Ashley on August 1, 2011

I took this picture of Aron on the Saturday morning before I went into labor; I think le Pain Quotidien will, now, forever be linked with Hudson’s arrival. It seemed fitting to return there this past Saturday–on my actual due date (and for one of our first true outings together). How odd to think that […]

Urban baby

by Ashley on May 16, 2011

Not too long ago, we brought stuffed rats back to California–bearing a note “Greetings from New York”–for our little cousins (which they loved, possibly to their parents’ horror). These hand-knit, urban hallmarks would have been wonderful alternatives! Aren’t they charming? [Metrocard/Taxi/Pigeon]

Jonathan Junior

by Ashley on March 28, 2011

We’ve been spending hours and hours imagining how to fill the wall behind our dining room table with some new art—in part to bring more color into our studio, in part to replace a giant mirror which will (soon enough) become a giant hazard to a crawling baby. We’re crossing our fingers that ours is […]
