Month One

Hudson month one from Aron Bruhn on Vimeo.

We decided that Hudson should sit on the couch with his elephant friend for his monthly photos. Thank you to those of you who added some suggestions last week! I swear I’ll narrow it down to just one at some point soon, but I just love all of these so much. And we’ve watched the video we took about a dozen times already (even though the very same baby is actually in the room). It’s just so incredible–and endearing–to watch him as he begins to really look around and (holding his head up for just a little while) engage with his surroundings.

Of course the price for all of this progress (and growth–he’s up over 25% from his birth weight already!) has been a more demanding week of cluster feedings and crying. We hear there is another corner to be turned in that regard around week six and we’re crossing our fingers it’s true. Still, it’s amazing how much easier it is to wake up when he looks at us with that sweet face before squirming up toward our necks (or across my chest toward my heart) to get as close and tucked in as possible.

Or when he pees on Aron. That’s pretty awesome, too.

So precious! Yes, the 6 week mark is huge. My baby is a few months older than your sweet Hudson. We were holding on tight with hope for the 6 week mark that it meant more sleep, and sure enough, 6 weeks to the day (of her due date, so at her 7th week since she was a week early) she started sleeping in larger chunks! It gets easier! You guys are in the thick of it right now.

Wait! Ho! From the due date? He was two weeks early… Uh-oh. But thanks for the encouragement!

The second picture is incredible. The way he’s looking up and focused is just adorable. Thank you for sharing this video; I have watched him sneeze way too many times because he is just that cute.

I love this! What a sweet documentation of Hudson’s one-month birthday. And that sneeze is fantastic. It’s amazing how you can see his little personality shine through already!

Thanks! I got nervous when I started to see the drool emerge. Jonathan Adler’s fabric is not the most baby-friendly.

Thanks! It was a gift from a friend, but the company is blabla. They make the most adorable knit dolls: http://www.babymine.net/?p=610

Thanks, Dave! We’re actually going to be in CA weekend of 18th–maybe an early introduction? Any chance you could come to Davis Sunday after the run?

Ashley who knows it could be sooner! (I hope it is for you) That’s just what the sleep book I read said. (Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child by Dr. Weissbluth) I think I referred to that book twice a day during the first six weeks. More sleep is that lifeline you need so bad in the beginning. I was obsessed with the shift!

That is adorable! I have already watched the video twice! It makes me want a second baby–the newborness is just adorable on Hudson.

I love the yawning picture! Super cute!
P.S…where did you get that wall art in the background? Is that just fabric stretched over canvas! I love it!
