Le Pain Quotidien

by Ashley on August 1, 2011

I took this picture of Aron on the Saturday morning before I went into labor; I think le Pain Quotidien will, now, forever be linked with Hudson’s arrival. It seemed fitting to return there this past Saturday–on my actual due date (and for one of our first true outings together). How odd to think that we weren’t expecting to meet Hudson until this week. It already seems so hard to imagine him not being here, with us.

Looking back, I had so many of the classic signs of imminent labor, but I think we were in denial. We walked all over the city and fit in a showing of Harry Potter before spending some time at Babies R Us just before they closed at 10pm.  How we’d wished we’d gone to bed early rather than having stayed up until 1:30 am “nesting” when my water broke at 2:30 am.

That sleep deficit seems to be growing, but having this third person with us at breakfast makes it all worthwhile!

Thank you so much for welcoming Alli last week. I have another guest poster to introduce this week as well as a giveaway coming up. And do you also read Hither & Thither? If not, be sure to check out the guest posts over there, too!

You are all looking so happy! Such a cute little baby you have.

Love Le Pain Quotidien. I can totally see myself going there with baby Alice for brunch. It is so relax and pretty stylish. It is sad that we don’t have one in Montreal…oh well, on our next trip!

Ashley August 2, 2011 at 10:06 pm

Thank you, Claudia. We like him quite a bit. 🙂 Hope you and Alice are doing well!

That’s a lot of cuteness, for sure. I love Pain Quotidien, and miss the originals in Belgium where I grew up. Still none in Seattle, though I could go down to LA for a fix I suppose. A perfect mellow outing for the threesome. We took our little man out to restaurants so often, from early on, that one day he held up his empty sippy cup to a passing waitress as if to say… fill ‘er up, please!

Ashley August 7, 2011 at 5:43 pm

How cute, Isabelle!

Caitlin August 4, 2011 at 4:37 pm

This post is so sweet, I can’t imagine what it must feel like to have been to a place one week without Hudson and then have him with you just two short weeks later. How fast things can change in such an amazing way! He is absolutely adorable. Congratulations again!

Ashley August 7, 2011 at 5:41 pm

Hi Ashley,
First, let me just say, CONGRATULATIONS! You really have a beautiful babe there with you! I adore babies myself. I have two of my own. And I sooo know about what you’re saying regarding imminent labor. I almost gave birth to my second baby in our car, no kidding!
I am so glad that everything worked out great for you. And daddy seems to be all over the baby, that’s awesome! You look great too!
