I’ve asked a few friends and fellow-bloggers to guest post while I am getting acquainted with Hudson–though I know I’ll enjoy sharing updates and photos from time to time. Kate writes a blog chronicling her adventures in New York with her husband, Shawn (first from Manhattan and now from their new home in Brooklyn)–be sure to check out Embarrassment of Riches. Here’s a bookshelf recommendation from her youth…
As a child, I delighted in finding an escaped orangutan amongst the pages of Where’s Wallace?. Originally published in 1964, Where’s Wallace? predated the similar (and, in my opinion, lesser) series Where’s Waldo.
Out of habit, I always check for Where’s Wallace? in the children’s department of every bookstore I set foot in, but I’ve yet to find it. It’s not even stocked at the marvelous independent children’s bookstore Books of Wonder (though other less obscure Hilary Knight books are available).
I’m thankful that my Mom saved my tattered, circa-1980s copy. If you’d like to track down Wallace for yourself, you can order the book from Amazon.com

I love old children’s books! My favorite growing up was called Oscar the Otter – long out of print, but I still have my much-loved old copy.
I LOVED this book growing up! Can’t believe I forgot about Wallace. I must go find him!
