Choosing a mobile

by Ashley on June 23, 2011

Our mobile just arrived! We chose a handmade, paper mobile by Frazier and Wing: “Sunshine” (top image). It’s more subdued that some, but our wallpaper around the crib is so high-contrast that this seemed to be the perfect choice. All of  Heather Frazier’s collection is really beautiful.

However, we did do a lot of looking around for simple, modern mobiles before settling on this one. Above are a few other favorites.

And, alternatively, you could make your own! It would be a great way to involve older siblings…

[Sunshine paper mobile (top); Felted Sailboats; Butterflies; Dwell Transportation; Knitted sheep and Bird in Ring; Wood Elephants and Wood Owls; Spring clouds with raindrops; Pinwheels; Themis (colorful geometric shapes); Sailboats, Whales, Sheep, Airplanes, and Fish (wood and paper)]

I searched for the perfect mobile for months, and then a friend made us a mobile, which funnily enough, is the pinwheel mobile you have pictured on the bottom (only made by our talented friend, who is not the woman who has the etsy shop). Check ours out:

When it comes to mobiles, I swear by Flensted. They are all so beautiful and delicate. We went for the hot air balloons version in my son’s room.

I bet that looks awesome! They have the most beautiful designs.

Oh, Heather is amazing isn’t she? So great to work with. I had her custom make one for Claire’s room and it is perfect!

I really like the one you chose. It will look beautiful with that wallpaper. You’re right about the contrasting of colors. Love it!
